Immerse yourself in the myths and monuments of classical Greece on this awarded full-day tour of Delphi, from Athens.Guided visit to the Delphi Museum and archeological site.
After meeting our expert guide in Athens, hear tales about the ancient Greeks and their lives in Delphi, while traveling on a luxurious air-conditioned coach.
Drive through the fertile plain of Beotia, crossing the town of Thebes (Theva) connected with the tragedy of King Oedipus, followed by a short rest stop outside the town of Levadia.
Pass by Castalia Spring, and arrive at DELPHI, the center of the Ancient World – the “Omphalos” (navel) of the Earth, whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic world! This is a landscape of unparalleled beauty and majesty, on the slopes of Mount Parnassus.
First stop is a tour of the Delphi archaeological site – a UNESCO World Heritage Site and clearly one of the most important digs in Europe. Avoid and skip the lines of the archaeological site and walk around the evocative ruins with your guide, see famous monuments, such as the monument of the Argive Kings, the treasury of the Athenians, the Athenian Stoa, the Polygonal Wall, the monument of Platea, and the Temple of Apollo, famous for the Oracle of Delphi.
Second stop is the Museum of Delphi, with its spectacular exhibits, including the frieze of the Treasury of the Sifnians, the Naxian Sphinx, the Statue of Antinoos, the metopes of the Athenian treasury, the famous bronze Charioteer originally created to commemorate a victory during the 476 B.C. Pythian Games, and many other artifacts.
Time will then be taken for a traditional Greek lunch. Lunch is optional (not included in the price), but it can be added in the booking form below, at only 12 Euro per person.
Afterwards, visit Athena Pronaia Sanctuary, the most photographed spot in Delphi.
Return to Athens, passing by the picturesque mountain village of Arachova, built on the south slopes of Mt. Parnassus, well known for its attractive hand-woven carpets, rugs and quilts, as well as for its wine and cheese (short stop for photos).
